This
is the beginning of my genealogy page. I am currently working on
several branches of my family. The most important to me are the Hylton
family of Roanoke VA and the Morrison Family of Kentucky.
Names in my family are:
William Harrison Morrison, The Wagon Maker
Christopher Columbus Morrison
Cora Ethel Hylton (Looking for
Grandma) of Roanoke, VA
Eugene Victor Morrison
William Edward Pollard
Zelphia White
Didema Holbrook
Oscar Gardner Rea, the cartoonist
Dorothy Calkins, the artist
I am using GRAMPS genealogy software running under Windows XP.
As of 6/11/2009, I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and it seems to
work well with GRAMPS.
As of late 2009, I changed back to Windows XP, since both Vista and 7
will not run some software I need for business. When will Microsoft
ever solve these problems?

Golden Gloves mystery: October 17, 2009
My
father, Charles Ray Morrison, reports that he fought in the
Golden
Gloves and won a gold medal. I have seen the medal, so I know he has
actually competed and has gone to win a regional. I would like to
locate his boxing record, so I would appreciate any assistance from
anyone who can suggest a way for me to find it.
He is currently
82 and fought the Golden Gloves about the late 1930s, or early to mid
1940s. He fought at Haft's Acres in Columbus Ohio and went to
Cincinnati and won the local fight. He later went to Chicago, where he
lost. His memory is not too clear, but he may have fought in
Indianapolis.
I have looked online for hours, searching through
newspapers and boxing websites. It is my understanding that there are
no boxing archives. I have also e-mailed the Golden Gloves, with no
response.
